AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): The Gomati district Congress committee organized a rally and meeting in Udaipur city on Friday, as part of the party's nationwide protest against alleged vote rigging and corruption. The rally, which started from the Jamtala Congress Bhavan, marched through Central Road and New Town Road before culminating in a meeting at Jamtala.
The meeting, presided over by Gomati district Congress President Titun Pal, featured addresses by Tripura Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman. The leaders criticized the BJP government at the center, alleging vote rigging and corruption.
Sudip Roy Barman called upon the CPM to join hands with the Congress to oust the BJP from power. He also criticized the state's ruling party for failing to address unemployment and rising prices. The Congress leaders demanded accountability and transparency in governance.
The event was closely monitored by the police administration to prevent any untoward incidents. The Congress party's agitation program, which began in Udaipur, will conclude on September 7 in Kailashahar.
