AGARTALA, August 21 (TIWN): Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma has dismissed claims by Minister Bikash Debbarma regarding the implementation of the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill in Tripura. Debbarma had stated at Agartala's MBB Airport that the bill would be implemented in the state.
However, Pradyot Debbarma took to social media to refute the minister's claims, saying they were baseless and lacked authenticity. He revealed that he had spoken to top officials at the Home Ministry, who assured him that the statement had no credibility. Debbarma expressed his skepticism, remarking, "They think Tiprasa are still fools in 2025."
The 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill aims to strengthen the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, which provides autonomy and special protections to tribal communities in certain states. The bill seeks to enhance the financial and legislative powers of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in these states.
