AGARTALA, Aug 12 (TIWN): In a significant bust, police and BSF personnel apprehended a young man, Suman Chandra Das, with a stash of ganja at Udaipur Railway Station. The suspect, a resident of Bashpukur area under Jatrapur police station, was attempting to board the Kanchanjunga Express bound for Kolkata.
The arrest was made during a search operation on August 11, ahead of Independence Day. The police recovered the contraband from Das's bag and seized it. According to the police, Das claimed he was carrying the ganja to Kolkata for ?5,000 and had been given the consignment by some youths from the New Market and Bashpukur areas.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and the police are investigating the matter to identify the main accused.
