AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): A recent road accident in Agartala has sparked concerns over the safety of municipal vehicles on the city's roads.
The incident occurred when a Tata S vehicle belonging to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (TR.01G 1164) collided with a private car (TR.01BY 0800) driven by Arup Banik near Rabindra Bhawan. The municipal vehicle's driver, Arijit, claimed that the vehicle's side indicators were not functioning due to a short circuit.
The incident raises questions about who would be held accountable in case of a more serious accident involving municipal vehicles – the municipal corporation or the government. The police's response to the incident has also been questioned, with some wondering if they would have acted differently if the accident had more severe consequences.
