AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): West Agartala police have arrested three individuals for possession of brown sugar and ganja following a raid on a shop based on secret information. The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, involved a team of police officers dressed in civilian clothing. This successful bust is part of the police department's ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the area. According to SDPO Deba Prasad Roy, authorities seized 5.1 grams of brown sugar, 2 kg of dry ganja, and over Rs. 5,000 from a shop in Battala. “We were informed about this racket for a long time but were hunting for evidence,” said the cop.
Police took an auto, clothed in civil dress and reached Battala. Then police started a sudden raid and caught the drug sellers red-handed.
Three arrested persons are – Gopal Das, Kamal Sutradhar and Nayan Sarkar. Out of the arrested persons, Gopal Das is the one who was arrested in another drug case recently and then bailed out by a court.
The seized items would be worth Rs. 2.50 lakhs, said the SDPO.
