AGARTALA, Aug 10 (TIWN): A police official in Tripura is accused of killing his one-year-old daughter, and his wife has demanded his death penalty. A shocking incident has unfolded in the Tulasikhar area of Khawai, where the child allegedly died after consuming poison given by her father, Rathindra Debbarma, a jawan with the Tripura State Rifles (TSR). The child's mother reported that she was subjected to physical torture by her husband and alleged that he was unhappy about having two daughters, as he wanted a son.

The police were informed, and a team from the Tulasikhar police station reached the scene, recovering the child's body and sending it for a post-mortem examination at the Khawai district hospital.

The accused father, Rathindra Debbarma, has been taken into custody by the police for questioning. The incident has raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the child's death, and the police are investigating the matter further. The community has expressed outrage over the alleged act, demanding justice for the young victim.
