AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): Rod cutter machines were down! Officials are trying their best to start this old machinery, which was the only equipment of the disaster management department officials present there to rescue him. The truck driver named Mihir Lal Debnath was stuck inside the vehicle after an accident where a portion of the truck had fallen on him and pressed him to death. But the death was not rapid; but it tortured the victim for around 8 hours.
Whereas he was trying his best to come out of that situation, he was appealing to the people and the administration to take him out anyhow, but the officials who had already arrived late found that the machines were not working. Lack of proper training of the emergency staff was clearly visible.
After seven to eight hours of struggle, Debath was finally brought out of the truck, but by that time, he was already dead.
This incident has sparked heavy resentment among the public.
Social media users have been blasting the state government over its massive “failure and lack of preparedness”, which they alleged was proven in this incident.
Thousands of social media posts expressing grief over Mihir Lal Debnath’s death have been shared on social media, with the netizens finding extreme negligence of the government as well as incompetence of the department, which caused his death.
