KAILASHAHR, Aug 5 (TIWN): A significant step towards sustainable development in the fisheries sector was taken by the Tripura State Government with the inauguration of the Pisciculture Knowledge Centre in Kailashahar.
This technology-driven knowledge centre will play a pivotal role in providing scientific training and advice to fish farmers in the state. Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das inaugurated the centre, which is located near Vidyanagar High School in Paitur Bazar.
Minister Das highlighted the state's progress in fish production, which has increased by approximately 10,000 metric tons since 2018. He emphasized the government's commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in fish production and announced plans for an Integrated Aqua Park in the Haor area, which will have a positive impact on the local economy and tourism.
The Minister also underscored the importance of the Pisciculture Knowledge Centre, which will provide modern training, advice, and technical assistance to fish farmers under one roof. The centre will be operational starting tomorrow, with a Superintendent of Fisheries overseeing its activities. Local fish farmers have welcomed this initiative, and observers believe it will create new opportunities for self-reliance and employment in the fisheries sector.
