AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): A Sonamura court has convicted two individuals, Sabuj Rahman and Ali Ahmed, under sections pertaining to house trespass and robbery, and sentenced them to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment. Along with the jail term, the convicts have also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000 to the complainant, Pulak Pal, as compensation. According to the FIR lodged by Pulak Pal, the accused had allegedly visited his residence with a proposal to purchase his land, which was declined. It is alleged that on October 9, 2023, the accused persons trespassed into Pal's house and started looting.
When a neighbor intervened to protect the family, the accused allegedly turned violent. The case, Sonamura PS 144/2023, was investigated and charges were framed under relevant sections of the IPC. After trial, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced them to 7 years of imprisonment.
