AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): A 19-year-old bride, Shiuli Debnath, died under mysterious circumstances in her in-laws' house in Gokulnagar, Tripura. Her family members suspect foul play and allege that her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law planned and executed the murder.
According to reports, Shiuli was married to Raju Debnath, a 32-year-old man from Gokulnagar, three years ago when she was just a minor. The family claims that marital discord began just two months after the wedding, and Shiuli returned to her parental home, where she stayed for 11 months before being brought back to her husband's house through a mutual settlement.
On Friday morning, Shiuli allegedly hanged herself at her in-laws' house. However, her family disputes this claim, asserting that she was murdered. The in-laws took Shiuli's body to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital without informing the police, which led to a commotion when the family demanded justice.
Bishalgarh police station has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. The incident has raised concerns about the consequences of child marriage and the need for stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such practices.
