Agartala, July 31 (TIWN): In a bid to empower small and marginal farmers, the Agriculture Department distributed mini power tillers to 21 farmers at the Gauranagar RD Block premises. Each of the mini power tillers, valued at approximately Rs 75,000, was handed over to the beneficiaries free of cost.
The distribution ceremony was attended by Kailashahar MLA Birjit Sinha, Gauranagar Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Badruz Zaman, BDO Nobarun Chakraborty, Agriculture Department's Deputy Director Soumen Nandi, and other panchayat representatives. BDO Nobarun Chakraborty emphasized that the use of modern machinery is key to modern agriculture, and the state government's initiatives will not only increase farmers' productivity but also reduce costs and labor.
The administration is not only focusing on distributing the machinery but also providing training to farmers on their proper use. The government's aim is to make technology accessible to ordinary farmers, thereby modernizing the state's agricultural sector. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, stating that it will bring about a tangible change in their livelihoods.
