AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday felt the need for more funding in football, which is comparatively lower than cricket.
CM was attending a football tournament at Umakanta stadium and said, “It’s a fact that there is no lack of sponsorship in cricket but funding is a big problem in football. So it needs that funding boost.”
“As I was also president of Tripura cricket association, I know there is no crisis of funds in cricket, but in comparison, the football association does not get that much funding,” added CM. “We are trying our best to help the teams. We have installed floodlights recently, and people are coming now in more numbers.”
“Tripura Football Association is weak in the economic sector, and Federation is also is in the same condition. However, a lot of people are coming to Tripura from outside via a scheme. Hopefully, a solution will come to the matter,” added CM, expressing his expectations from businessmen to sponsor Tripura football.
