The MLA's intervention was prompted by numerous complaints received from the public, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation into the matter. During the meeting, Sen requested Tripura to have the smart meters examined by experts to determine the cause of the inflated bills. This step aims to identify the root cause of the issue and find a lasting solution.

 

Apart from the smart meter issue, the MLA also raised concerns about the infrastructure of the Electricity Department's office in Belonia. He pointed out that the old office building gets flooded during rains, which hampers its functionality. Sen suggested that a proposal be sent for constructing a new office to address this issue.

 

Furthermore, the MLA proposed setting up a call center in the Ishanchandra Nagar area to cater to the needs of the large number of customers under the Belonia Electricity Department's jurisdiction. This initiative aims to improve customer service and provide timely assistance to those facing issues with their electricity supply.
