BELONIA, June 26 (TIWN): Shambu Malakar, a resident of Belonia Hrishyamukh, allegedly sold off his child, who was only 18 days old.

On being asked, Malakar declined to take any money, whereas government officials who inspected the matter found things were highly suspicious.

Gauranga Shil, who is childless, went to CWS recently and learned the adoption process, but hearing all the complications in adopting a child, he took the illegal way of adopting the baby.

Administration appealed to the people to always follow the legal procedures if they want to adopt a child.
