SONAMURA, June 20 (TIWN): Tripura’s biggest smuggling corridor Sonamura, witnessed police and smugglers’ racing, leaving a few police officials injured. The incident happened in Ledra Bari village under Kathalia Panchayat when police started chasing a cow-smuggling vehicle. Although police could not arrest anyone connected to the incident, but could seize the vehicle, which left traces of cow-smuggling activities.
Based on secret information, police led by sub-inspector Rumi Akter tracked a cow thief spotted the vehicle, and started chasing it. At a point, the vehicle hit a police vehicle, which left a few police officials injured.
Both police's and smugglers' vehicles suffered damage due to the crash.
The smuggler managed to escape, leaving the vehicle behind.
On Friday, police arrested a suspect Jewel Hossian (27) resident of Kalam Khet, Melaghar and started interrogation.
