AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): A Rohingya was arrested in Kailashahar subdivision with the initiative of Irani PS police. The arrested Rohingya youth Nur Mustafa (22) came to India illegally. For sheltering him, the house owner, Abdul Oahid, was also arrested by police.
Jayanta Karmakar, SDPO Kailashahar, said, “Based on secret information, police raided the home of Oahid and found Nur Mustafa.”
Mustafa is a citizen of Myanmar, and identified as a Rohingya.
It was suspected that Ahmed planned to escape Bangladesh vis Tripura.
Further information gathered from police said that in 2012, Ahmed entered Bangladesh and was residing in Coz Bazar camp.
In 2019, he came to India illegally with the help of a broker and started working in Hyderabad. Now he was planning to return to Bangladesh, but Tripura police arrested him before his exit via Tripura’s loophole fencing.
