KAILASHAHAR, June 3 (TIWN): A Violent mob killed a vehicle driver in Kailashahar, Kali Shashan tea garden area, after a vehicle had hit a local pedestrian there. On Tuesday, a vehicle carrying some passengers was on the way, allegedly in high speed hitting a tea garden worker there. After the vehicle hit the pedestrian, losing control, it plunged into a drain beside the road. Local people rushed to the vehicle to catch the people inside. Initially, the driver, along with others, tried to escape, but the villagers found the driver Pradip Das, who was hiding inside the tea garden.
The angry mob set the vehicle ablaze and beat the driver to death on the spot.
After receiving information police rushed to the spot led by SP Sudhamabika R and other top officials of the Unakoti District.
After the police reached, a passenger who was inside the vehicle when the accident took place, named Nirmal Das, came out of the tea garden. Nirmal Das was shielding him with the tea bushes from the violent mob.
Police booked Nirmal Das and took him to the police station. Survived Nirmal Das is a resident of Pecharthal and deceased Pradip Das is a resident of Kumarghat.
