CHURABARI, May 12 (TIWN): In a major success by Churaibari police 960 KG Ganja was seized along with arrests of two Uttar Pradesh residents connected to the illegal export of such drugs. The smugglers were trying a different technique but failed to fool Tripura police as police busted the racket, by seizing Ganja from electric transformers. The arrested persons are – Adesh Kumar (42), Pramod Kumar (59).
The seized items would be worth around Rs. 4 crores.
Briefing about the raid, Churaibari PS OC Khokon Saha said, “The six-wheeler truck bearing number UP58AT-1128 was trying to exit the state, likely via Guwahati. During Naka-checking, police suspected the vehicle driver and his assistant of hiding something.”
“A total of ten transformers were being carried out in the vehicle. While checking, police found they were filled with Ganja. A total of 96 packets of Ganja were found inside the transformers,” said Saha.
Getting information SP Abinash Rai, SDPO, and DCM also rushed to the spot. In the presence of these top police officials, the drugs were seized and counted.
