AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, the only IPFT legislator in Tripura Assembly, on Wednesday was stuck in traffic, which occurred due to a road blockade organized by the local people in Kamalpur’s Santir Bazar. The Minister got down from his vehicle and talked to the agitators trying to convince them to withdraw the blockade. He appealed to them to trust in him and to vacate the road, as people were unable to move due to the road blockade.
Talking to the agitators, one of them said, “For the last 15 years, we have been suffering due to the pathetic road condition, which is now worsening. So many political parties came to power, but nobody could solve our problems. In this condition, we had no other option except blocking the road.”
PWD officials, BDO, and SDO visited the agitation spot after the blockade started.
“PWD officials clearly stated that this road is not in their budget. Unfortunately, this road is not in the budget for maintenance. Over 500 families are living in this village who are affected due to the road conditions,” another agitator said.
This road connects from Barabari to the Twishakathang area.
“Due to rain, the road is going into further deplorable state. Another bridge was there connecting the local schools which is also not working. Schoolgoers and common pedestrians are facing troubles. It is now leading to further problems, such as power department vehicles can not move due to road conditions, and as a result, the powercut issue has turned severe,” he said.
