AGARTALA, April 26 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Government has introduced new rules for GB Hospital medical staff, asking everyone to enter the hospital on time and provide biometric attendance while entering. After dozens of complaints came against GB Hospital doctors for negligence as they were allegedly focusing more on their private chambers, on Saturday, Health Department Principal Secretary Kiran Gitte informed media that from now on, biometric attendance has been made mandatory for the doctors and all staff at GB Hospital.
Gitte told the media that timely attendance is important, and based on their biometrics, salaries will be given.
“We receive complaints about attendance lapses all the time. That’s why we have now decided to make the biometrics mandatory,” Gitte said.
“For all departments, for all staff, biometrics are mandatory. Also, whether the doctors are attending the patients or not, it will be monitored,” said Gitte.
He mentioned the decision was taken after a meeting was held with the Chief Minister.
