The opposition CPI-M alleged that the attackers are BJP party workers, who stopped CPI-M workers from joining the meeting.

The meeting in a conference hall in Kamalpur was organized ahead of the India strike scheduled on May 20.

CPI-M alleged, many party members were attacked in different spots.

Later, CPI-M members were seen arguing with police officials after they were stopped from organizing a protest rally there.
