BJP cites 2010's 'Freedom of Press' power to downplay Opposition's accusation of rising Unemployment in 2025

AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): Recruitment was at least double in numbers if not triple in 2010 in comparison to the incumbent BJP era in 2025, as the current BJP government is focussing more on entrepreneurship, business ideas, promoting self-help groups and jobs which are mostly handed-over over to outsourcing resources.

Displaying various news clips from printed papers during the then Left Govt under former CM Manik Sarkar, BJP MLA Sushanta Deb demonstrated the government’s failure to provide sufficient jobs and following fair recruitment processes.

However, what the MLA seems failed to notice the strength of voice and access to press freedom acquired by the media that time which enabled the editors to publish contents with such strong headlines !

The MLA at Krishnanagar party head office read aloud a decade-old Bengali newspaper's headline saying --- ‘protests by unemployed across state ; party office vandalized, fire’, “You should have shame,” said Sushanta Deb targeting opposition communists.

Similar headlines were read out stating how lakhs of unemployed youths were becoming overage during CPI-M regime without getting jobs.

Whereas in the Left era, recruitment and irregularities were both evident but right now, the recruitment flow is almost dried up and voices of people are unheard; news media’s role in the state remains unsatisfactory.

The job market crisis is hitting Tripura hard right now, with slow recruitments and unfilled vacant posts. Various recruitments have been canceled since the BJP-led Govt came to power in 2018.

In 2018, all the ongoing recruitment under the former CPI-M govt was canceled, promising fresh recruitment would be held for each of the posts, but they were never filled out, though the promise was to fill up 50,000 vacant posts within one year if BJP voted to power.

The state also saw the burning of newspaper offices, and opposition party offices by BJP activists in broad daylight --- such incidents however are now much in control since Dr. Manik Saha took the charge.

Recently, multiple times, unemployed youths were arrested who were protesting for STGT recruitment.

The same newspaper cited by MLA Sushanta Deb to demonstrate the Left Govt era's irregularities, its office was vandalized in 2019 by BJP activists and the party didn't even suspend a single party worker for that.
