AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): The CPI-M party staged a demonstration in protest against the abolition of Lake Chowmuhani market, the age-old market that has been sheltering five hundred people with their livelihood. The Agartala Municipality Corporation decided to evict all the existing sellers there and to create a cemented market shed. Even though AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder claimed all the sellers can continue their business till shed completion, but the ground report shows a different scenario.

When opposition leaders visited the marketplace, the sellers said, they were removed from the place forcefully and the are not allowed to sit there.
Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury met affected shopkeepers at Lake Chowmuhani market.
Former CM Manik Sarkar called the BJP Govt “inhuman” and opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury slammed the BJP Govt for not making alternative arrangements for them for their livelihood.
