AGARTALA, Feb 9 (TIWN): On Sunday, Agriculture, Horticulture, and various other departments jointly held a meeting at State Level Nodal Agency office to save water and increase Tripura’s water resources.
After the meeting, Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that, in comparison to Punjab and Haryana, where 100% of the groundwater has been emptied, Tripura’s groundwater is still 91% reserved, which is more than Assam and West Bengal.
“We have to preserve water and how to store the rainwater, focus also will be put there. At the same time, we have to store the water for the future generation, so that they do not suffer due to water crisis,” Nath said.
It was said that once upon a time, over 250 natural fountains existed in Tripura but only a few fountains remained. Govt will also work to restore them.
