AGARTALA, Feb 5 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Wednesday informed media that due to a dam that Bangladesh has set in Kalampania, Agartala city is seeing water-loggings. “In other years, the dam is put later in March but this time, they have put it early and have not removed it. We are trying to talk to the Bangladesh government in this regard,” said Mayor.
“Apart from that, people also have to be responsible. Agartala residents must stop making the drains dirty by throwing plastic and other things, which is not only causing water-logging but also mosquito problems,” said Mayor. “We are doing our duties and accomplishing all responsibilities but we also urge the people to help to keep the drains garbage-free.”
“We also requested the 16th Finance Commission for more funding, which we expect will be allocated,” added Mayor.
AMC organized a meeting on Wednesday regarding drainage and mosquito-related problems.
