AGARTALA, Nov 27 (TIWN): National Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate lambasted Modi Govt on its blind attitude against Adani's corruption allegations amid multiple nations have been taking serious actions against Adani group. In a press meet at Delhi headquarters, Shrinate said, “Mr Adani has been investigated by various countries across the globe ever since the warrants against him have been issued by the US. TotalEnergies of France, one of the top 7 energy companies in the world, having 20% stake in Adani Green, has decided it will not make any fresh investment in the Adani Group.”
She also listed out some key points showing how actions underway against Adani “across the globe” :
- The American agency is reviewing whether the funding should or shouldn't be allowed for the Sri Lankan port that has been given to Adani. Sri Lanka itself is reviewing the Adani power deal.
- In Israel, the Haifa port is facing challenges with labour unrest.
- The Kenyan govt has already cancelled the airport and power deals.
- The Bangladesh court has ordered a probe into the Adani power deal.
- Australia has seen rampant charges of corruption and widespread protests against Adani.
- Switzerland has frozen about $2,617 crore connected to Adani on charges of misdeeds.
“But in India, Adani continues to be safe and the govt will do all it can to protect him.Meanwhile, ratings agencies such as Moody's and Fitch have downgraded Adani stocks and have maintained the outlook to be negative and to be further downgraded,” Shrinate told media.
“We have 4 demands…..” she continued and listed the demands below :
- Mr Adani is saddled with charges of corruption, bribery, and misdoings. Had it been anyone else, he would have been probed by the agencies and arrested. Gautam Adani needs to be taken into custody immediately.
- There needs to be a detailed discussion in the Indian Parliament on the charges he is facing.
- The agencies ED and CBI need to launch an objective and fair probe for the charges he is facing not just in the US but across the globe.
- Last but not least, the BJP, its ecosystem, govt officials, ministers and MPs should stop defending a man who is tainted and is only bringing to India disrepute. Such charges of corporate misgovernance and loss of credibility with regard to the stock market and our rule of law are damaging India's image, Shrinate said.
