AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): An indecisive administration is losing its ground by consistently failing to implement strict laws against criminals. Tripura police had cancelled Udichi club’s Durga puja permission recently over its extortion attempts and SP West Kiran Kumar told media it was a strict action against ‘Extortion’ but within 48 hours of SP’s declaration, with the intervention of recently elected Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and a defeated candidate of Banamalipur constituency, the puja was restored. The club authority claimed it was a ‘minor’ incident and they are happy that the permission was once again restored.
The club members recently were caught on camera threatening a Doctor's family over Durga puja donation.
The club asked for Rs. 1,500 from the family whereas the family said they would give Rs. 500 which generated heavy arguments and chaos. When the chaos was attempted to be recorded, the club members were seen snatching the camera.
Later, the victim's family lodged an FIR at the local police station but soon they withdrew it.
Then SP West Kiran Kumar told the media that the puja permission was cancelled but within 48 hours of SP’s announcement the puja permission was mysteriously restored.
This has come as a setback to the commoners who have been victims of Durga puja extortions in this state over decades. Netizens have been slamming the government for its failure to uphold the dignity of the common men.
Recently Congress MLA Sudip Barman called Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha a ‘Big Zero’ and is only good in speeches but not in actions, which has some valid grounds now with such inconsistency within his administration. Barman also said, there is a fight going on inside BJP between the good and the bad groups.
