AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Agartala Udichi Club members came under heavy controversy after they were caught threatening, abusing verbally, and also physically assaulting a family over Durga puja donation issues.
A 24 hours time period has been set by the police to reply, why the puja would not be stopped and if their answers fail to satisfy the police, the puja will be stopped for this year.
Club President Gopal Saha and Club Secretary Biswajit Ghosh are the main accused in the incident.
Police also provided security to the attacked family for their safety.
The East Agartala Police Station has issued notice to some clubs in the Banamalipur area. Police also have requested the locals to notify police if anyone pressurizes them for donations.
On Thursday Dr. Pritam Debnath and Dr. Puja Das were attacked by Udichi club members after they refused to pay the exact amount that was demanded by the club.
The Doctor was able to save some clips of the incident. Viral footage shows that the President of the Udichi Club is threatening the couple and then trying to snatch the mobile phone and running after him to delete the footage.
On the next day, the couple lodged a complaint to the East Agartala Police Station seeking justice.
