AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): Six days after Minister Bikash Debbarma told media that he would file a defamation case against Congress MLA Sudip Barman for bringing corruption allegations against him, the case has not been filed.
On being asked by media, Debbarma avoided answering the query and said, “I am seeing what can be done………..”
Congress MLA Sudip Barman accused Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma of his indulgence in corruption. The MLA compared the Minister’s current assets with the assents he had shown on the Election Affidavit.
After Barman raised the questions in the Assembly, Bikash Debbarma called for a press meet and rubbished all the allegations, saying, he had huge property and savings long before he came to politics. Debbarma also said, his grandfather was a ‘Zameendar’ and that’s why he is rich.
He challenged Sudip Barman and declared to file a defamation case against him but today the Minister said, he would look into the matter and see what can be done.
Then Congress asked, why the Minister had shown no earnings in his ECI affidavit, urging the ECI to take action against the Minister.
Bikash Debbarma bought multiple flats, raised property, and used Tribal Welfare fund to construct a boundary wall.
