AGARTALA, Aug 8 (TIWN): Tripura former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar delivered his deep condolence over the death of West Bengal former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, saying, “I am heartbroken. It’s the end of a chapter. From Youth protest to Communist led movements and Left Front movement --- he was the mass leader. He ruled as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for more than 10 years. He was showing a different path to the nation. His attempt to shape India in a new way was appreciable – he was the path bearer of a new India,” said Sarkar.
“Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee could not indulge in political activities for a long time due to his health condition but still we had the feeling of his presence because he was alive. His presence was important for West Bengal’s communist movement. Now his place is empty! But this gap has to be filled up. For that the existing communists and the new generation have to come forward to play the role,” added Sarkar.
“I am leaving for West Bengal and I can’t speak more than that……because I am not in a situation to speak further,” Manik Sarkar told media.
