BELONIA, Aug 8 (TIWN): An independent candidate was attacked on Panchayat polling day at the voting center in Belonia. The incident happened on Panchayat poll day at Netaji Subash Chandra Nagar Gram Panchayat zone. The independent candidate Bimal Shil Sharma was taken to the hospital. After the incident police officials rushed to the voting center and sufficient numbers of TSR jawans have been deployed there.
The incident reportedly delayed the voting process.
It can mentioned here that BJP already won 71% of seats uncontested in Tripura and the polls are conducted for the remaining seats.
