AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): Hailing the “Swadeshi” movement kicked off by Mahatma Gandhi in pre-independent India, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha appealed to common men to come forward and help in promoting handloom products so that rural garment industry gets boost.
“As you know, today is 7th August which is celebrated as National Handloom Day. We celebrate the day to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s Swadeshi movement ahead of the anniversary of the Quit India Movement. Apart from this sentiment, everyone should support this local products so that handloom industry gets a boost and won’t die,” added CM.
The Chief Minister visited Purbasa on National Handloom Day where Tripura biggest Handloom showroom is located, which is sponsored by Govt of Tripura.
