AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday visited Gandachera, and met victims from both communities. After the visit, addressingpress, the chief minister has appealed for peace. Dr. Saha said, “Without peace, no state, no nation can develop and those who are trying instigate tension within the communities would be identified and law will take its course. Strict action will be taken against them who would try to break the peace."
DGP Amitabh Ranjan also visited Gandachera with CM. CM assured us about tightening the security factors there.
Gandachera was recently hit communal fire after a death of an innocent youth Parameswar Reang in mob-attack and then a group of miscreants instigated communal tension by setting fire to a particular community’s houses.
Addressing media, CM who visited Parameswar Reang’s house declared that the compensation which was announced Rs. 6 lakh earlier for his family, now has been increased to Rs. 10 lakh.
Dr. Saha also said, there would be hikes for each victim whose houses were affected that led them to take shelter in relief camps.
“Unless one sees the devastation by own eyes, its depth can not be realized,” commented CM after visiting the area where houses were set on fire.
