BJP continues Panchayat Election Campaign with Colourful Rallies

AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Tripura BJP is ahead of other parties in election campaigning. BJP across Tripura is organizing rallies, house to house campaigning to win at larger margins amid 71%seats were won by BJP uncontested. In support of Uttam Das, the BJP's nominee for Tripura Zilla Parishad seat 17 in the upcoming Panchayat elections, a huge bike rally was held from in front of Belabour School. Candidate Uttam Das and West Tripura district BJP president Asim Saha along with area corporator Bapi Das, Alok Roy and others were present.Tripura BJP on July-25 has thanked state leadership led by Dr. Manik Saha after the party won 71% seats uncontested.

BJP said, opposition are unable to get candidates and the massive winning without poll, shows people are with BJP.

It can be noted that amid mass rigging allegations, and murder of CPI-M candidate, BJP managed to win 71% seats “uncontested” at the Gram Panchayat level. Election Dept Secretary Ashit Kumar Das said, “After the Panchayat nomination withdrawal date was crossed deadline, it shows 4550 seats were won uncontested out of 6370 seats. If I talk about the party-wise seat bagging, these are such as --- BJP 1818 CPI-M 1222, INC 731, Motha 838, CPIM(L) 5 and independent 127.”

Apart from that 58% seats were won at the Panchayat Samiti level without contest by BJP.

Also, BJP won 17% Jila Parishad seats as “uncontested”.
