AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited Gandachera on Sunday along with DGP and other senior police officials. Gandachera was recently hit communal fire after the death of an innocent youth Parameswar Reang in mob-attack and then a group of miscreants instigated communal tension by setting fire to a particular community’s houses.
Addressing media, CM said, he visited Parameswar Reang’s house and met the family members. The CM also said, the financial aid that was declared Rs. 6 lakh now has been increased to Rs. 10 lakh.
Dr. Saha also said, there would be hikes for each victim whose houses were affected that led them to take shelter in relief camps.
CM assured us about tightening the security factors there.
“Unless one sees the devastation by own eyes, its depth can not be realized,” commented CM after visiting the area where houses were set on fire.
CM’s visit occurred after Opposition Leader Jitendra Chowdhury slammed him for not visiting the area after weeks had passed.
Talking to press CM said, “Even though he did not visit but he was closely monitoring the situation along with Home Department officials.”
