AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Amid 22% Dearness Allowance (DA) was cleared under 22 months of Dr. Manik Saha's government, still the gap remains over 25% with the central employees, said a report. With the recent taxes imposed more on the government officials and the pensioners in the Union Budget 2024-25, there is hardly any room for some “extra” for the State Govt employees. It is expected that in July, the Central Government will announce DA and then the gap might rise higher.
In 2018, the Tripura BJP, then in opposition, promised to provide state government employees with salaries equal to those of central government employees and implement the 7th Pay Commission. However, after taking power, the BJP-led state government introduced a modified version of the 7th Pay Commission that failed to benefit employees, leaving the salary system unchanged from the previous Left Front government's regime.
