AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): Identification of new location for land customs in Kailashahar is at Murthychara started. A team led by Joint Director of the Department of Industries and Commerce Swapan Mitra and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kailashahar Pradeep Sarkar visited the border area in Murthichara of ??Kailashahar on Thursday afternoon, August 1, to identify a new site for Land Customs.
Adjacent to BSF camp in Murthichara area has been identified as a suitable place for Land Customs. During the visit, Swapan Mitra, an official of the state government, said that apart from several government lands, there are privately owned lands in the area.
The official of the department expressed hope that the establishment of land customs in Kailasahar will increase the trade in the region.
In 2016, the Bangladesh government rejected the proposal of the Indian government as it was too close to the international border to set up land customs behind the Radha Kishore Institution in Kailashahar. Therefore, plans are being made to build Land Customs at Murthichara
