AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Food Department led by Sadar administration suddenly raided various restaurants in Agartala on Tuesday. During the inspection, the officials were able to detect unhygienic food traces at the renowned Abhishek Restaurant. In action against the negligence of the food service business, the restaurant was closed temporarily. While talking to media, an official said, “This is unacceptable the way they are maintaining the restaurant. People will fall sick if they serve this food. As per law, actions will be taken.”
For last few days, there have been constant allegations against Agartala food centers regarding hygiene, whereas the administrative actions are very weak. For example : Mithai restaurant where cockroach was served roasted with food, is still running, whereas in other countries, such shops would have been closed and the owner arrested, but no strict action was taken.
