AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): In a major success, Assam Police have busted a drug smuggling racket linked with Tripura.
Asam police arrested a driver with marijuana while smuggling from Agartala in exchange for three lakh rupees.
The raid took place in Churaibari (Assam part).
Although searches were conducted in so many police stations located on the national highway from Agartala to Churaibari, the Tripura police failed to seize the Ganja, whereas Assam police were successful to catch the racket.
A total of eight hundred and six kilograms of dry ganja was seized in ninety-two small packets.
Meanwhile, the driver Amit Kumar has been arrested. He is a resident of Himachal Pradesh.
The police have registered a case against him under the NDPS Act and will be handed over to the Karimganj CJM court tomorrow.
