AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): Amid water-logging problems faced by the common men in Agartala city during monsoon, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha criticized citizens’ irresponsible behaviour which is causing water-logging problems in the city. CM shared footage where bulks of garbage, and hard materials were recovered from the drain, which are supposed to be used only for water discharges. Plastic bottles, heavy materials, shoes, and even furniture were recovered from the drains. The chief minister appealed people to stay refrained from such activities to save the city from water-logging problems, saying, such garbage hurling in drains is one of the major reasons behind water-logging problems.
While sharing the photos, CM said, “I am really shocked and saddened to see the type of garbage emitted from various drains of Municipal Corporations across the city of Agartala! One of the main causes of waterlogging during the monsoon season is littered plastic/glass bottles and other non-biodegradable wastes that disrupt civic life.”
“I humbly request everyone including the city dwellers to refrain from this kind of behavior and throw waste in a proper and specific place,” added CM.
