AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury raised question over newly elected BJP MLA Dipak Majumder’s oath taking ceremony alleging, it had violated the electoral ethics.
“He has taken oath without surrendering his post as Mayor,” said Chowdhury.

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder had taken oath first time as an MLA of the Tripura Assembly in presence of ruling and opposition MLAs on June 19th.
After taking oath, Majumder said, “I am very happy and honored today. A new chapter of life has started as first time I am going to represent an assembly constituency. Our government is focussed to development and this is my first priority during the tenure,” added Debnath.
Dipak Majumder won in the recently held by-poll at Ramnagar constituency, defeating opposition INDIA candidate Ratan Das.
The by-poll was necessitated after the sitting BJP MLA Surajit Datta passed away.
The election was held on April 19 and the result was declared on June 4 when the Lok Sabha result was also declared on the same day.
