AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): Former Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder has taken oath first time as an MLA of the Tripura Assembly in presence of ruling and opposition MLAs. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha who was also present on the occasion at the Assembly congratulated hi,. After taking oath, Majumder said, “I am very happy and honored today. A new chapter of life has started as first time I am going to represent an assembly constituency.” “Our government is focussed on development and this is my first priority during the tenure,” added Debnath. Dipak Majumder won in the recently held by-poll at Ramnagar constituency, defeating opposition INDIA candidate Ratan Das. The by-poll was necessitated after the sitting BJP MLA Surajit Datta passed away. Dipak Majumder also served as Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation from 2021 to 2024. Yesterday, he completed his last day as Agartala Mayor to join the Assembly as a BJP legislator.
The election was held on April 19 and the result was declared on June 4 when the Lok Sabha result was also declared on the same day.
