BELONIA / AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): In a strange outcome of staff shortage, a power office has been left closed for 42 days under the Belonia subdivision’s Maichhara electricity department call office.
The door has been locked for 42 days, said locals since a death of an employee Litan Rudra Pal.
Due to the closure of this office, proper electricity service is not available in the village.
Despite informing the office officials about this, nothing is being done, alleged local raising concerns over the emergencies.
The Maichra Power Division's call office is locked since the employee was electrocuted while repairing power lines 40 days ago. Now, there is no one to open the Power Office.
On Tuesday, residents of the area complained that if there is any problem with electricity in the area, there is no electricity worker to repair the line.
“We often call the office but nobody picks up and when we visit, the office is found closed,” he said.
Recently Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath was asked by journalists about staff shortage but he blasted the journalists and advised them to be more sympathetic with the existing employees.
