AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): With the mounting death toll of Tripura terminated 10323 teachers that has risen to 175, the former teachers’ community lashed out at Tripura government for not even considering contacting the deceased teachers’ family members to condole the deaths. Today 10323 teachers paid tribute to Sudip Dev, who died of a brain stroke amid ongoing tension and financial crisis on Sunday late night. Addressing media from the program, one terminated teacher said, “It’s unfortunate that Tripura government officials do not even care about the deceased families. So much fund is raised from the teachers for emergency, but those funds are not even used in such serious situations like death.”
“Today Sudip Dev has left his old mother, wife, and eight years old son but not a single government official contacted the family,” he said.
10323 teacher Sudip Dev suffered from brain stroke yesterday night and he died during treatment.
“Sudip Da was in sleep and he did not know that was his last sleep….” mourned a former teacher.
10323 teachers lost their jobs after the Supreme Court upheld Tripura High Court's verdict terminating them due to irregularities in recruitment. However, 10323 teachers claimed various times, that they were never terminated and it was a wrong explanation by the government which led to their terminations. Right now, 10323 teachers have appealed to the Supreme Court for a revision of the entire matter.
The former teachers were terminated in 2017 when the Left Front govt was in government during irregularities in teachers’ recruitment process. BJP as the opposition promised (in written and verbal forms) that if BJP voted to power, it would solve 10323 teachers’ problems and re-recruit them, but after six years of being in power BJP failed to keep its election promise.
