KAILASHAHAR, June 17 (TIWN): Chaos-culture kicked off in Tripura’s few places fuelled by BJP’s internal clash over candidate selection. This time, in Ward No-1 of Gaurnagar Panchayat in Kailashahar subdivision, BJP leaders called a press conference accusing the BJP-led state government of violating election guidelines by reserving a seat for SC candidates. The BJP leaders also said, the opposition parties have agreed with them in this matter and said, they would also boycott votes if it happens. According to the BJP leaders, the entire voters’ community in the village will not cast vote.
Addressing media, a BJP leader said, “The decision to reserve the seat is illegal. We already submitted a written application to the District Magistrate.”
“People are resented with the violation of the election rules. To reserve a seat for SC in a particular ward it must have 3% SC voters but it has less than 3% SC voters and same with the ST voters. So the seat must be allocated for the UR,” he said.
The BJP leader also said BJP is considering an SC candidate here whereas the speculated candidate is a newly settled person here and nobody knows him.
