AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): With the rising theft incidents in the capital city Agartala, police strive to curb theft cases. On Saturday, three thieves were arrested by the West Agartala police.
On June 5, a woman named Debidatta Bose was planting a tree in front of the Agartala Lions Club, when a group of thieves stole her bag from there. Later the woman lodged a complaint at Agartala West Police Station.
Based on the woman's complaint, the Agartala West police station initiated a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigation.
Finally, Police could arrest three in connection the case.
The arrested persons are : Rubel Sarkar of Bamutia area, GP Chanmari area Pritam Das and Swapan Debnath of area adjacent to Kumarghat railway station.
The police managed to recover Rs 5970 cash, wrist watch, ATM card and other equipment from them.
