AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Samajwadi Party (SP), founded in 1992, operated as a state-centric party in Uttar Pradesh. In 2024, the party emerged as a key player of the opposition alliance INDIA not because of its winning seat numbers that surpassed the ruling BJP but for making an almost impossible task into a reality that has hit the BJP hard. State Uttar Pradesh, is known as the den of BJP. One of the constituencies in Uttar Pradesh is Farizabad, located in Ayodhya played a vital role in BJP’s national campaigning before 2024 Lok Sabha poll, where Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Ram temple as a symbol of Hindu religious dedication of the BJP leadership, claiming rescuing Lord Ram after 500 years in India. But giving a major jolt to the BJP, Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi party not only won the Farizabad constituency but cited a remarkable victory across Uttar Pradesh led all opposition leaders across India to congratulate him first!
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I congratulate Akhilesh. He will win in the upcoming state poll.”
SP bagged 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh surpassing BJP’s 33 seats whereas SP’s coalition parties like National Congress got 6 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Today, Akhilesh Yadav reached Delhi and chaired a meeting with INDIA party leaders. Before his departure, party workers gathered at the party office to congratulate him. Yadav is the national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
