AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): The State Revenue Department on Monday informed that at least 800 families were affected due to the heavy storm that happened on Sunday. The department in a press brief stated that among them, 62 houses were fully damaged and 161 were severely damaged and 577 partially damaged. 1 person died in lightning. In 42 locations road blockade happened because of trees collapsed and over 205 areas suffered due to power outage after the storm.
SDRF immediately started measuring the losses following the model code of conducts of the Election Commission of India, stated the department official.
50% areas have been cleared and power have been restored. It is expected that by tonight the power supplies will be restored in all places.
Compensations have been given to the affected families as a part of immediate relief and more relief will be provided.
One relief camp had to open in Teliamura and people are still living in the camp. The department said, there is no shortage of funds.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha visited few storm affected areas and assured full support from the government.
