AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Money extortion allegation raised against local mafias during the construction work of a private school. The workers allegedly ran from the construction spot out of fear. Local people met the media and briefed the situation, demanding an immediate solution to the matter.
Locals said some leaders of some political parties have threatened to stop the work of the school within 5 days if Rs. 3 lakh is not paid to them.
The incident occurred in Patni area of Mandai block under Jiraniya subdivision.
According to the details of the incident, the local people of Patni area under Mandai block under Jirania sub-division donated their land free of cost to build a private school, thinking about the improvement of the area and quality education for children.
The school construction work started as usual but the local political party leaders became an obstacle to the developmental work.
The locals appealed to the Tripura state government to solve the matter for the sake of the education of the boys and girls of Patni area.
