AGARTALA, Feb 16 (TIWN): CPI-M unions, Congress party called for a strike today in Tripura along as part of a nationwide protest against the attack on farmers in Chandigarh and Delhi. The opposition CPI-M and Congress both parties supported the farmers’ strike and appealed to people to observe the strike today but the strike’s effect was very minimal and even the parties failed to gather sufficient protesters to stage demonstrations.
From Teliamura to Udaipur and Agartala strike could not be effective.
CPI-M party however blamed BJP for the ongoing normal vehicle movements amid the strike.
CPI-M leader Shankar Prasad Datta said, at the morning the vehicle movement was not enough but various organizations like BMS, and Vivekananda Bichar Mancha forced the vehicles to function like every day.
Tripura Govt also ordered all employees to join offices.
At the same time, private offices also operated smoothly.
CPI-M staged a protest in Agartala by blocking road, and slammed the Modi-led BJP Govt over its policies for farmers.
